City to convert to SMARTGov from Interlocking legacy software
Paladin Data Systems Corporation announced today that Yakima, Wash., has launched the SMARTGov software platform, Paladin’s community development software that manages the full lifecycle of any permit, inspection, license, or code enforcement action for jurisdictions.
Yakima represents yet another former Interlocking customer to convert to SMARTGov. Paladin has implement its cloud-based technology in Yakima to track all aspects of zoning and codes, including permit issuance, inspections, code enforcement, and will implement its public portal for self-service public access.
“When we were given the opportunity to switch from the ILS system to SMARTGov we did not hesitate to consider upgrading to this newer system,” said Yakima Supervising Senior Analyst Corinne Choy. “Our prior conversion with Paladin was seamless, therefore we had every confidence we could achieve the same level of success again.”
She continued: “We began our conversion process in July 2015 and met the target go-live of October 26, 2015. To have such a short period of time to complete data migration, configuration and testing speaks volumes for the efforts of both city and Paladin staff.”
As previously noted, Yakima will deploy SMARTGov’s online public portal, which is a significant addition to the city’s ability to serve the public, acting as a full-featured extension of its front counter services. Using the portal, members of the public can research local building trends, apply for a permit, view maps, pay fees, submit digital architectural drawings, request inspections, and even review public notice postings in a 24/7, self-help environment.
Yakima is located about 60 miles southeast of Mount Rainier in Washington state. It is the county seat of Yakima County, and the state’s ninth largest city with a total population of more than 91,000.
