Project
Description:
The Aviation Maintenance Training
Continuum System (AMTCS) Software Module (ASM) is a web-based training management tool
designed to:
- Manage and track all levels of formal, supervised,
and self-directed training such as:
- Technical
- Task-based
- Professional
- Classroom
- Continuous
- Recurring
- Safety
- On-the job (OJT)
- Identify and track Qualifications, Certifications,
and Licenses associated with job/career duties and competencies
- Interface with a variety of training tools
- Establish, track, and report training across
an individual’s military career
- Validate knowledge and skills for all Navy and
Marine Corps aviation maintenance personnel
- Provide a feedback system to management to continuously
improve the organization
- Report data needed for individual and squadron
readiness assessments
ASM provides a cost-effective, integrated
management tool to satisfy the training and administrative requirements
for individual Sailors/Marines and the entire organization. The diagram
below presents a high-level view of AMS’s role in training, career paths,
and readiness.

Why ASM?
Business Objectives
- Enhance the quality of training at the schoolhouse
and in the fleet
- Provide the capability for real-time assessment
and identification of training deficiencies
- Recommend and provide the appropriate remedial
or refresher training tools
- Standardize maintenance training
management
- Reduce administrative burden
of work center supervisors through centralized data and staff management
capabilities
- Decreases maintenance costs
by increasing knowledge and proficiencies and reducing errors or rework
- Evaluate training effectiveness
which ultimately increases operational readiness
Business Benefits
Personnel Management
Benefits

staff training documentation through interactive file uploads (certifications,
licenses, etc.)
- Serve as a stand-alone or centralized
database solution depending on connectivity or infrastructure constraints
- Automate training administration
and readiness assessments
Operational Benefits
- Provide data necessary for fleet
readiness assessments
- Deliver information for capacity planning
- Provide competency information for incident investigation
root cause analysis
While ASM focuses primarily
on the staff training aspects of aviation maintenance, direct benefits
are also provided to the operational side of the aviation maintenance community. See
diagram below.

What is ASM?
ASM contains multiple “Views” used to support Navy and Marine Corps aviation maintenance personnel training. Each
View is intended to maintain a business function required to support training,
assessment, and reporting activities. ASM’s secure system log-in allows
key users access to Views associated with work activities such as account
set up, course plan development, training assignment, approvals, and reporting. The
diagram below presents primary and secondary business functions associated
with ASM.
