Paladin welcomes another former Black Bear PTWin customer conversion to the SMARTGov product family

Poulsbo, WA (PRWEB) March 29, 2013

Paladin Data Systems Corporation announced today East Whiteland Township, Pennsylvania as its newest customer to convert from Black Bear’s PTWin permitting software to SMARTGov, Paladin’s community development software that provides permitting and code enforcement management for jurisdictions.

East Whiteland Township has contracted with Paladin Data Systems to migrate all of their PTWin data into SMARTGov, preserving their legacy information and all of their current business processes in an easy to manage, secure, cloud-based application.

“We are very excited to welcome East Whiteland Township into our SMARTGov family. This is our first Pennsylvania customer and we foresee a number of additional Pennsylvania jurisdictions following East Whiteland’s lead. SMARTGov is a great fit for their business processes and we will be delivering additional features which were never available in PTWin, such as embedded GIS mapping and public portal access, which East Whiteland can add in the future.” said Jon Byrd, a Paladin Sales Executive.

East Whiteland Township, PA has used Black Bear’s PTWin permitting software for a number of years. However, the software became unsupported when Black Bear went out of business in late 2010. PTWin is built on an outdated Paradox database making the data more vulnerable to data corruption and obsolescence with modern operating systems.

“We purchased SMARTGov software because our present software is out of date and no longer supported. Paladin Data Systems was able to import all of our previous records into SMARTGov, which was important as it consisted of 16 years worth of information. The implementation staff at Paladin and SMARTGov were extremely helpful and very knowledgeable in making the switchover much less stressful than it could have been,” said Latta White, Deputy Fire Marshal/Inspector at East Whiteland Township.

About SMARTGov

City of Bremerton, Paladin ILS customer since 2007, converting to Paladin’s SMARTGov community development software

Poulsbo, WA – March 28, 2013 –Paladin Data Systems announced today that the City of Bremerton, WA will be converting from Paladin’s Interlocking Software to their SMARTGov community development software product.

City of Bremerton has utilized Paladin’s InterLocking Software in their Codes and Building departments since 2007. They are now in process of migrating all of their InterLocking Software data and configuration over to Paladin’s newer technology, SMARTGov for improved efficiencies and greater service levels to the public.

“We are thrilled to bring Bremerton onto the SMARTGov system. As longtime partners with the City of Bremerton, we know their processes and needs very well and this conversion will allow additional city departments to utilize the system and initiate internal process improvements for many years to come in this community,” said Jon Byrd, Paladin Data Systems Sales Executive.

SMARTGov cloud-based deployment includes three separate instances for production, training, and support. SMARTGov is built in SQL server with .NET and C++ which seems to be a more comfortable and familiar database and software architecture for local government IT departments.

“Bremerton is moving to SmartGov to stay current with today’s ever-changing technology. SmartGov will allow us to provide better service to our customers by integrating permitting functions across departments and giving the public access through multiple contact choices,” said Janet Lunceford, Code Compliance Officer, City of Bremerton.

“SMARTGov is a new type of product for Paladin. In broad terms it is similar to our InterLocking Software in that both systems tracking and manage permits, code enforcement, planning actions, inspections, and licenses. But it is really quite different in the underlying technology, GIS integration, cloud optimization, self-service features, automated back-up and disaster recovery protocols, and on-demand extraction jobs,” said Byrd

2011 Finalists honored and winners announced at special event on August 11

SEATTLE, WA – June 20, 2011 – Paladin Data Systems Corporation was named as one of the finalists for Washington’s Best Workplaces by the Puget Sound Business Journal. The program was launched in 2007 to identify and recognize best practices in the hiring and retention of great people. After an extensive and rigorous process, which included more than 230 nominees and the completion of surveys by nominee-company employees across the state, workplaces in four different categories have been identified as Washington’s best, based on their various employee benefit offerings, leadership culture and work/life balance philosophies. In total, 85 companies have made the grade as finalists.

Paladin prides itself on creating a fun place to work. Through monthly on site games (Paladin Olympics to “iPolf”), spontaneous celebrations (ice cream to nerf wars), and formal gatherings (Family Summer picnic to the formal Holiday Celebration) Paladin makes sure all employees have the chance to take a break, be appreciated and have fun. The biggest break is the annual holiday shut down during the week between Christmas and New Years. The week off gives all employees the chance to relax and by doing this all employees come back ready to start the new year with no work piled up as is typical when someone takes a vacation.

“Our philosophy is to do right, do your best and treat others the way we would want to be treated,” states Jim Nall, CEO of Paladin, “and this starts at home. When everyone working for Paladin feels they are being treated well, it makes it very easy to pass these values onto our customer relationships. It is great to be recognized as a great place to work with great people to work with.”

“Work-force development has never been more important – or more difficult – than it is in today’s global economy,” said Emory Thomas Jr., publisher of the Business Journal. “We believe the Business Journal, as the Puget Sound area’s top source of business information, has an important role to play in drawing attention to innovations and excellence in the management of our region’s No. 1 resource: its people.”

The finalists – 25 small companies, 25 medium-sized companies, 25 large companies, and 10 extra-large companies – will be celebrated at a one-of-a-kind awards event at Safeco Field on Aug. 11. Honorees and the public alike are invited to come cheer for the workplace accomplishments of these companies from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The celebration will include ballpark food and drink, walking the bases, speed pitching, and an awards presentation. The company with the greatest number of employees present will win a suite at a future Seattle Mariners game.
